My name is Rachel   and I am fertilely  challenged.

I’m 30 years old, and my husband Dean and I have been trying to conceive for two and a half years. Anytime I find a fun fertility blog, I’m always curious to see a digest version of their journey and where they are now, so that’s what this is. As of June 2016, here’s a basic rundown of our journey:

  • January 2014: went off birth control and started obsessively trying to get pregnant.
  • January 2015: first appointment with the fertility doctor; decided to try medicated, monitored cycles.
  • February-May 2015: three rounds of Letrazole or Clomid, trigger shots and timed intercourse.
  • June 2015: first IUI with Clomid and trigger shot;  FIRST AND ONLY positive pregnancy test, which ended in a very early miscarriage at 5 weeks.
  • July-August 2015: 2 more rounds of IUI with Clomid and trigger shot; thought we were onto something, but I guess it was a fluke.
  • September 2015-January 2016: took a break; continued medicated cycles, but we both knew it was sort of futile.
  • February-March 2016: desperate to avoid IVF and hopeful that we could recreate the magic of our first IUI, we tried two more rounds of medicated IUI cycles, the last of which was pretty much a mess; negative and negative.
  • April 2016: started the process of IVF, which takes almost 2 full months.
  • June 2016: IVF cycle ended with a negative pregnancy test and two frozen embryos; I guess it’s time to start a blog?

After nearly 18 months of working with a really smart doctor at a great clinic, Dean and I still don’t know the cause of our infertility. We have A+ sperm and no red flags on my part, so our plan is to keep trying until we run out of money (and credit cards) or die of old age.

Thank you for visiting my blog. If you enjoyed it, I hope you’ll come back and follow along with me as I continue my journey. And please, leave a comment on one of my posts if you want to share part of your story. As they say on the forums, baby dust to all and KMFX for you!
